# Global options

> Flags accepted by every Deel CLI command

Every command accepts the options below in addition to its own parameters. Flags override the corresponding environment variables. Two exceptions apply in one direction only: `--log` cannot re-enable logging once `DEEL_LOG=off` is set, and no flag can disable body logging once `DEEL_LOG_BODIES=1` is set. Boolean flags that default to on are disabled with a `--no-` prefix, for example `--no-json` and `--no-log`.

| Option | Description | Environment variable |
| ------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------- |
| `--input=<input>` | Request body: file://path \| JSON \| key=value shorthand | — |
| `--file=<file>` | Multipart file part: field=@path (repeatable) | — |
| `--json` | JSON output (--no-json for human-readable on a TTY) Default: on. | — |
| `--quiet` | Print ids only | — |
| `--fields=<fields>` | Comma-separated field projection | — |
| `--jq=<jq>` | Transform output with an embedded jq filter | — |
| `--raw` | With --jq, print scalar string results unquoted (like jq -r) | — |
| `--form` | Send as multipart/form-data (for endpoints that also accept a file upload) | — |

| `--debug` | Print request diagnostics to stderr | — |
| `--generate-input` | Print a JSON body skeleton and exit | — |

`--help` and `--version` are available on every command and exit without calling the API. See [Command structure](/cli/usage/command-structure) for `--help --json` and `--generate-input`.
